Shakira Triumphs at Big Ideas Celebrated Awards 2017

On 30th March 2017 our Head Girl, Shakira, attended the Big Ideas Celebrated Awards (ages 16 – 24) at the Cardiff City Stadium. She had to do a pitch regarding her homelessness campaign in front of five judges and against nine other groups of students from various high schools and universities.

Competition was fierce with other pitches including business ideas ranging from make–up tutorials to sports massage therapy.

Shakira was nominated in three categories: the Social Impact Award, Gwbor Ian Bennett Award and the Overall Best Business Idea Award(Sixth Form).  She was runner up in the Social Impact and Gwbor Ian Bennett categories and won the Overall Best Business Idea Award (Sixth Form).

Congratulations Shakira!

Cantonian Pupils Visit Cambridge

on .

A group of 15 pupils has visited the University of Cambridge.  During the trip, the pupils from years 7, 8 and 9 had the opportunity to visit St Catharine's and St John's colleges, receiving tours from current students telling them all about the history and life of the colleges.  They also received a talk at St Catharine's college all about what university life is like, opening their eyes to some of the options available to them after leaving school.  During the day, the pupils also had the chance to walk through the city centre and see a number of the colleges there, and greatly enjoyed a punting trip down the river!  The day was a great success and as well as hugely enjoying their day out in the snow, the pupils came away with new ideas and ambitions for what they could achieve beyond school.
