ASC Access! Provision

We are a community school and one of our strengths is that we value all pupils as individuals.

Cantonian High School's Access! Provision started in 2007, and is populated by pupils across both key stage 3 and 4. All Access! pupils have a diagnosis of Autism and / or Aspergers, and all of them are able to access lessons in the mainstream with the opportunity to use the Access! provision for unstructured times, as well as for social skills and independent life skills sessions.

In our 2011 Estyn Inspection report, the quality of our provision for pupils was highly praised:

“Pupils with an Autistic Spectrum Condition are supported very successfully in the Access base. They are an integral part of the school. Teachers and support staff are particularly enthusiastic in these bases. The quality and extent of this provision is at the forefront of the sector in improving learning and social skills.”
