Appetite for Life / Healthy Schools

Preparing a healthy mealCantonian recently took part in the Appetite for Life Fast Track pilot scheme, a County Catering initiative, and we are delighted to say that we have reached the County's target to serve healthier food in the school canteen. We are grateful to Mrs Peat and Student Nutrition Action Group (SNAG) who worked very hard on this project, attending meetings, conducting surveys and, eventually, presenting their findings and disseminating the work they completed to other schools within Cardiff at meetings at County Hall.

The SNAG pupils also took part in the annual Live-n-Cooking cook-off competition, reaching the final two years in a row!

We are on track to achieving the Phase 4 Healthy Schools award in summer 2013. Some of the action points have already been met and accomplished while others are being delivered during PSE days by our partners within the community. We are working towards; a whole school approach to healthy eating (Nutrition) and fitness (Physical Education) and accreditation for Eco-schools (Environment).

All staff and pupils work very hard towards making the school a "healthy school", with a positive approach to healthy living through fun, whole school activities.
